Reading the Past, creating the Future
This 2nd Mobility of our project focused on City tales (oral literature)and works of art connected to them: tales and legends about the town Rijeka, as it was the European Capital of Culture 2020. During the five days of this LTTA a rich variety of project focusing activities took place as described below.
1st Day:Presentation of the host school and all partner schools’ educational systems. Ice Breaking activities for pupils. Seminar for teachers about the right procedures to become an eTwinning School, presenter: Mrs Antonietta Calò, regional eTwinning Ambassador from the Italian Erasmus team. Workshops for students/ Blended activities: Debate in English (later presented as a tricider on Twinspace)- Project management session hold by the coorninating school: rescheduling next year’s activities, discussion, decisions taken. Glagolitic alphabet: First Croatian national alphabet-Reading under the treetops-Media workshop- students presented their homeland’s stories to help other participants get to know the richness and diversity of their culture-“Bookcrossing” -Alphabet Glagolitic Workshop –Collage art work – What is Literature to Me? Conclusion: Presentation of skills developed.
2nd Day:Workshop on Museum/Arts section activities: -visit the HUB building which represents the frontier of cultural change in the European Capital of Culture 2020-Rijeka and Port of Diversity and get information on all current events -explore the main sights of Rijeka and learn about city tales: Torpedo, Carolina of Rijeka, Saint Vitus-visit the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the University Library Rijeka-visit The Maritime and Historical Museum: D’Annunzio’s Martyr exhibition and The Violins Above Borders / Stradivari in Rijeka. Students and teachers participated in art and language workshops related to the subject of the museum exhibitions.
3rd Day: Guided cultural visit to Brseč where the smallest theatre in the world is located, and to a small town Mošćenička Draga-drama workshop. Visit at the city of Opatija and storytelling activities (the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary and Croatia Sissi and the tale about the girl & the seagull). Cultural trip to island Krk and focus on legents and stories as part of Croatian oral literature.
4th Day: Governor’s Palace : Workshops about coats of arms of the Frankopan family, History Museum visit, Rijeka City Walking Tour, Visit to the Church, Fortress and Trsat Castle and stories about Dragons of Trsat and its owners, the Frankopans dynasty. Focus on Croatian legents.
5th Day:Workshops at the conference Hall of Children’s House in Art Quarter:Poster presentations of selected books from each partner country.Feedback/ Communication&public speech activities/Conclusion and certificates award/ Cultural empathy activities including dance and music of host country.
