1st day: Monday 16/05/22

8:30 : Departure from hotel

9:00 –  10:30: Gymnasio Mygdonias – Welcome from Principal,  Secondary Education Head Consultant, Teachers, Students & President of the Parents Association, Warm up activities at inner school yard.

11:00 – 12:00 : Oreokastro Town Hall – Welcome from the Mayor and discussion  at Town Hall’s  conference and meetings  room.

12:30 – 14:00 : Educational Visit at Derveni Macedonian Tomb archaeological site. Archaeologist and curator of antiquities Dr Anna Panti is to welcome us at the site and highlight the characteristics of Macedonian Burial art and architecture.

14:30 – 16:00 : Lunch at a local restaurant

17:00 – 19:00 :  Getting to know Thessaloniki – Walking by the sea, around Aristotelous Sq, Agia Sofia Church

19:30  :  Dinner 

21:00  :  Return to the hotel

2nd day: Tuesday 17/05/22

9:00 : Departure from hotel

 

9:30 – 11:00 : Gymnasio Mygdonias

  • Students attend a lesson & have a presentation of Ancient Macedonia, Roman Thessaloniki and modern Thessaloniki at the ICT Laboratory
  • Teachers meet Tim Porteus at the School Library – Discussion

 

11:00 – 11:30 : Transportation to Monolofos Cultural Centre

 

11:30 – 13:15 : Training Event “A Storytelling Workshop” by Tim Porteus

 

14:00 – 15:00 : Lunch at the school “Kilikeion”

 

16:00 – 18:00 : MOMus-Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, Thessaloniki Port area. Exhibition “Landscape Stories”. We will admire works of art produced by Greek photographers. https://www.momus.gr/en/exhibition/landscape-stories

 

18:00 :  Dinner

 

20:00 : Return to hotel

3rd day: Wednesday 18/05/22

8:15 : Greek students depart from school

 

8:45 : Departure from hotel

 

9:15 – 11:30 : Visit the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, the central museum of northern Greece with unique collections of ancient artefacts from Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia  https://www.amth.gr/en

 

12:00 – 13:30 : MOMus, Museum of Contemporary Art – Attending a Contemprary Art Workshop

 

14:00 : Meal

 

15:30 :  Return to the hotel and rest

 

17:15 : Departure from hotel

 

17:30 – 20:00 : The S.H.AR.E festival at  “Cine Makedonikon” in Thessaloniki

 

20:30 :  Dinner

 

22:30 : Return to the hotel 

4th day: Thursday 19/05/22

8:00 : Greek students depart from school

 

8:30 :  Partners  depart  from hotel

 

10:00 – 12:00 :  Educational Visit at Vergina, archaeological site : the birthplace of Alexander the Great , Phillip II tomb at Aigai, the royal Metropolis of Macedon.  Museum visit: a unique myseum experience at the Polycentric Museum of Aigai: a new “holistic” and dynamic approach to the archaeological site – museum – visitor connection.

 

12:45 – 14:00 : Educational visit at Ancient Mieza, Aristoteles School

 

14:30 – 17:00 : Agios Nikolaos natural park by the river, Naoussa. Meal and walking by Naousa’s river.

 

18:30 : Return to hotel and rest

 

19:30 : Dinner

 

21:00 : Return to hotel

5th day: Friday 20/05/22

8:15 : Greek students depart from school

 

9:00 : Partners  depart  from hotel

 

9:15 – 11:00 : Saint Demetrios Cathedral, an emblematic byzantine church of huge archaeological significance, and the nearby Roman Forum archaeological site. 

 

11:30 – 13:30 : Cultural visits to the roman/byzantine aspect of Thessaloniki – the City Walls area, the old town, the Rotonda, the Galerius Arch, the White Tower, the landmark of the city

 

13:45 – 14:30 : Lunch in the park. Students get a lunchbox from the Parents’ Association

 

14:30 – 16:00 :  Photos at the seaside park and Poem presentation activity at “The Umbrellas” Sculpture by the sea made by Zongolopoulos. Adding to its beauty during the day are the sky and the sea colors reflected by the umbrellas, whilst at night they are illuminated and appear just as gorgeous. The sculpture was set in 1997 when Thessaloniki was the cultural capital of Europe.

 

17:00 : Return to the hotel and rest

 

20:00 :  Official Erasmus partners’ Farewell dinner at a Restaurant in Oreokastro – Greek dance and music

 

23:00 : Return to hotel
